The quality and taste of a beer depend largely on the quality of the raw materials. Of course, the skill of the brewmaster, the craftsmanship and the technology also play a role, but even the most resourceful of brewers cannot produce a good brew from inferior ingredients. The Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg relies solely on the five senses of its team when selecting its brewing materials: both the malt and the hops are carefully selected by hand and from a wide range of different options. Every single component is important and goes through an intensive testing phase before it goes into the kettle.
For their König Ludwig Weissbier, the experts have combined fine summer barley, sun-ripened wheat and the finest hops. The result is a naturally cloudy beer that flows into the glass in radiant gold and is adorned with a magnificent, snow-white crown. A classic bouquet of ripe banana, grain and floral hops rises to the nose and makes you want to taste it. The first sip is creamy and fresh: juicy orange notes envelop the palate before the aroma of oven-fresh banana bread spreads across the tongue. The fruit notes form a harmonious unity with spicy clove notes, strong yeast and robust wheat. Despite its full-bodiedness, the beer shines with tangy freshness and a light-footed body.
