The HOLZHAUSER Dunkel is a beer that scores with its full-bodied character and its traditional, down-to-earth brewing style. With an alcohol content of 4.9%, it is a pleasantly drinkable beer that still has an intense flavor composition to offer.
Visually, the brew is presented in an enticing color that is reminiscent of dark chocolate. The firm, dense-pored froth in hazelnut brown rounds off the appearance and gives the beer a certain irresistibility. The scent of the classic opens up a seductive range of aromas that combine milk chocolate, caramel and roasted malt into a heavenly bouquet. The first drink follows quickly and is pleasantly sweet. Powerful toasty tones accompany the pleasure and contribute notes of chocolate and soft grain elements. There is a hint of red dried fruit in the background.
According to beer sommelier Karl Schiffner, this beer is excellent for cooking and can be used to flavor marinades, sauces and dressings or as a spice. Our favorite with HOLZHAUSER Dunkel is bread roasted in butter, generously spread with mild Gorgonzola. Fresh, sliced figs or oven-braised red grapes add a succulent fruitiness, while nuts, arugula or herbs take the Mediterranean sandwich in a heartier direction. In any case, a dollop of honey and this excellent dark beer go well with it.
