Pink is a color that is associated with many things, but certainly not with monks. While monks usually wear black or brown robes, flamingos, various flowers and fruits, clothing, ornamental fish, drinks, lipstick, jelly and other desserts shine in pink.
Because brewers rarely stick to conventions, the Munich Brew Mafia brewery recently introduced its pink monk. He is part of a series of colorful clergy behind the finest brewing pieces in different styles. The Pink Monk most likely borrows its controversial name from its colorful extra ingredient: the Belgian tripel is made with fresh raspberry puree. The quick-witted brew brings a whopping 9.5% alcohol content to the table and combines the summery lightness of pink fruit with crisp acidity and bright grain.
The Pink Monk is presented in a bright raspberry red color in the glass and is decorated with a delicate, white head of foam. A fruity scent fills the room and makes you want to drink. This puts the raspberry in the spotlight and shows us all its facets: fruity acidity meets heavenly sweetness, light malt and a hint of spicy yeast. The stunning 9.5% alcohol content is cleverly integrated into the taste and only subtly noticeable in the finish.
