The two brewers from Fuerst Wiacek spared no expense or effort for their Hop Harvest series: Lukas and Georg flew to the United States to look for the perfect hop varieties for the 2022 brewing season on the sunny slopes of Oregon and Washington. In September the hops are ripe and whole areas smell intensely of the green gold. Amidst this splendor, Berliners were inspired by the abundance of tastes and smells. Ultimately, the choice fell on a classic of the craft beer scene: Mosaic is a solid hop that delivers sweet notes of freshly harvested berries and the tangy vibrancy of sun-ripened citrus fruits. In the fields of Yakima Chief Hops, the cones were bursting with intense aromas and Lukas and Georg were curious to see how this enormous flavor density could be transported into the beer.
Back in Berlin, it was time to start brewing with the hand-picked hops. The Hopheads created a hopped India Pale Ale with a whopping 6.8% ABV. Using dry hopping, the brewers teased every subtle nuance out of the cones and created a beer that represents the Mosaic variety in all its diversity.
