Fil is another highlight from the fruit-intensive range of the Flügge brewery. Dominik and Joachim have specialized in creative beers with a very special ingredient. Her specialty is the so-called wild yeasts, which give the beer a very unusual taste.
The description “extraordinary” also fits Fil well. The fruity sour beer is brewed with wonderful currant puree and the yeast Kveik. The berry fruit bomb is a great combination of sweet and sour components and tastes reminiscent of Belgian fruit beers.
Fil flows into the glass in a berry copper red and forms a stable head of foam. The creamy, pink foam gives off the full-bodied scent of blackcurrants, which is equal parts seductively sweet and beautifully sour. A hint of malt complements the scent and puts you in a great mood at the first sip. This reveals a medium-weight body with mild carbonation and a surprisingly dense, voluminous mouthfeel. The heavy fruit sweetness and the intense taste of the blackcurrants caress the palate and are supported by a light, biscuit malt base. The taste is a little reminiscent of creamy yogurt with fruit. The complex flavors present a range of sweet and sour facets that are well balanced.
Fil is an excellent sour beer that delights us with its full load of blackcurrants! Add a fresh berry tart with a crumbly, buttery base, home-picked delicacies from grandma's garden and a generous dollop of cream and the day is perfect.
By the way, Fil is also available in the Imperial version !
