If a beer revolves around a single hop variety, this brew usually presents us with the full spectrum of green gold. Every nuance of taste, no matter how small, is worked out and all components of the hops come into play. For experts, this is a nice way to get to know the richness of a single variety, for the conventional beer lover it makes little difference.
Some time ago, Atelier Vrai launched a series that tests the skills of its fans and puts hops in the spotlight in an unusual way. Guess What? is a series of beers whose ingredients are only disclosed to a limited extent. You learn which malts were used, the hops remain a mystery. Sometimes one variety is announced, but the other is not revealed. The purpose of this secrecy is a game. There are fields on the can that can be scratched free. After enjoying the beer, you guess the hops, scratch your choice freely and see directly whether your own tongue was right.
The current edition is called Guess What? Shakespeare and presents and two beers: A New England dual hop IPA and a single hop NEIPA. Can you accurately identify the hops used? Try your luck!
