While most breweries go for an extra helping of spice for their winter festival beers, the legendary brewers of Sierra Nevada rely on the festive magic of hops. The American brewery uses a holy trinity of cascade, chinook and centennial for its celebratory winter beer: a fabulous blend that provides varied citrus notes and a strong load of pine resin in the beer. With the full-bodied hop aromas comes a bitterness that is impressive.
If you want to make the cold season a party, we recommend this masterful IPA as a delicious companion.
Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Fresh Hop IPA is presented in a copper-red chestnut brown in the glass and is adorned with a small crown of slightly tinted, fragrant foam. The aroma is surprisingly malty and tickles the olfactory nerves with olfactory notes of creamy caramel, brown sugar, candied fruits and roasted malt. The hops add fine notes of freshly cut herbs, pine resin and grass. The initial taste reveals a robust IPA with a full-bodied palette of flavors and a velvety-soft mouthfeel. Strong citrus notes caress the palate and pamper the tongue with notes of grapefruit, lemon, lime and pomelo. The aroma of spicy pine resin and a touch of malt round off the play of aromas. The powerful hop bitterness runs like a red thread through the drinking pleasure and increases in the finish to an intense experience.
