The British brewery Robinsons has had a very special employee for years: Bruce Dickinson!

The front man and singer of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden is an integral part of the brewery team and, with Sun and Steel, is already launching the sixth beer that was created in this combination. Sun and Steel is a drinkable lager with 4.8% alcohol and a really special ingredient. The development of this beer took more than two years and required close cooperation with a Japanese institution: The special ingredient comes from the award-winning Saké brewery Okunomatsu, which is known around the world. Sun and Steel is not fermented with ordinary lager yeast, but with a yeast strain that otherwise ferments sake. The use of this extraordinary yeast gives the beer its soft honey taste and a hint of fresh fruit.

The Saké-inspired beer flows into the glass in a bright straw yellow and smells ravishingly of gooseberries, spicy blossom honey and exotic lychee. The initial taste reveals a light-footed body with a dry, complex aroma and a velvety mouthfeel. On the tongue, light malt meets sun-dried grain, fresh yeast plait and fragrant hay. The hops contribute a mild bitterness and caress the palate with notes of green gooseberries and tangy citrus fruits. The Saké yeast rounds off the play of aromas with spice and a fine honey note.
