In a world of hopped beers to the brim, it’s rare for brewers to settle on a single variety. So rare that brews of this type have their own name. Beers that revolve around a single hop variety are called single hop beers. The advantage of this limitation is that you can work out and present the nuances and the full spectrum of the green gold in all its facets.
This is what happened, for example, with Single from Noordt. The Rotterdam brewery chose the Cascade variety for its creation and brought it to life in all its fullness. Unusually, they didn’t go for an India Pale Ale or similarly hoppy style of beer, instead using Cascade to flavor a wheat beer. The hop-refined wheat beer delivers the classic aromas of its style and combines the bouquet of banana, yeast and cloves with the pointed bitterness and the fruity and grassy character of Cascade.
Incidentally, we also offer this beer in a different version: together with the Oedipus brewery , Brouwerij Noordt brewed a collaboration brew from their single and the Lemon Gose Swingers and created the fabulous Sour Lager Swingle. Original or Collaboration — Which variant is your favorite?
