The Cusqueña brewery not only brews beer, it also spreads the word about good beer. The team sees itself as an ambassador for the enjoyment of beer and advocates the establishment of a beer culture in their home country. In addition, with their fine creations, they ensure that Peru appears on the beery map of the world after centuries of absence. For a long time there were only a few breweries in the South American country and hardly any beer from there gained international fame. That is now changing!
An absolute favorite in Cusqueña’s exquisite range is their dark lager. The 5.5% strong brew flows into the glass in a deep black-brown and crowns its opaque body with a majestic crown of hazelnut-brown foam. From the creamy splendor rises a bouquet of brown sugar, toffee, oven-fresh oatmeal and hot chocolate. This appealing first impression leads into a velvety, surprisingly elegant and light-footed first impression. Strong hints of dark, creamy caramel form the entry before notes of roasted almonds, cane sugar, coffee and roasted malt join. Rum raisins, dark bittersweet chocolate and a fine roasted bitterness round off the overall picture. A short, crisp finish peppered with roasted aromas crowns the enjoyment of the beer.
Cusqueña takes your taste buds on a short culinary trip to faraway Peru. Bon voyage and prosper!
