It's magical when people pool their talents, strengths, and ideas. Collaboration unleashes wondrous inventions, magnificent creations, and masterful creations, drawing out people's greatest potential. Collaboration finds its most delicious expression when breweries and other beer enthusiasts sit down together and work together. This is what happened at Espiga: the Spanish brewery joined forces with its colleagues from Bar Humble and the Bona Pinta brewpub to combine their shared passion for hops and straightforward, classic beer styles into a collaborative brew.
The style was quickly identified. The illustrious team chose the Cold IPA because it combines the clear, clean, and unpretentious character of a Pilsner with the hoppy punch of an India Pale Ale. Classic yet contemporary. The title, Ephemera, captures the essence of beer enjoyment: Fresh and explosive, the beer crowns a few fleeting moments that are absolutely perfect shared with friends or enjoyed all on their own.
Ephemera is refined with the hop varieties HBC 1134, Hallertauer Blanc, and Simcoe, delivering an olfactory and culinary palette that ranges from juicy tropical fruits to citrus with a kick of acidity to white grapes. A subtle dryness and a crisp, well-placed bitterness lend the drink structure and contrast. Despite a nimble 6.5% alcohol, the brew is light and drinkable.
