Lacrima de Oro - A beer so good that you can shed a tear or two when it’s empty.
Golden tears are a legendary topic: artists dedicated epic pictures to them, authors write about them and in mythology they are said not only to have great power but also to have a healing effect. The French brewers of the Piggy Brewing Company follow the hype and contribute a beer of the same name, which is sure to have healing powers. Lacrima de Oro is a juicy Triple New England IPA, for which the brewers let down a real rain of hops. The two hop varieties Sabro and Mosaic are used in large quantities and give the beer its exuberantly fruity character.
The 10.0% beer flows like a stream of golden tears into the glass and forms a thick crown of creamy, fine-pored foam. A promising scent of exotic fruit, lemongrass, green hops and light malt rises from the slightly tinted splendor. The initial taste reveals a velvety-soft beer with a dense structure and a smooth mouthfeel. Upon contact with the tongue, the golden tears ignite a firework of aromas, from which the fine palate can take notes of white grapes, peach, pineapple, melon, orange, grapefruit, gentle malt and hops. A crisp bitterness completes the play of aromas.
