There are many types of beer that you can drink straight from the bottle. A wheat, however, simply has to be drunk from a suitable glass. In the case of wheat beer this is not a matter of taste, but a question of the yeast. It settles on the bottom of the bottle: If you drink the wheat straight from the bottle, you have no way of mixing the tasty yeast with the rest of the beer and you have no choice but to drink a hearty sip of yeast at the end. Or you can do without it. That would be a shame, however, because the yeast not only gives Hefeweizen its name, but also its spicy taste.
