Even though beer was long considered the most banal of alcoholic beverages and people were largely of the opinion that there was no great art behind brewing, we know better today: Numerous craft brewers and traditional breweries create sophisticated beers, the production of which requires a lot of craftsmanship, the art of brewing and requires expertise. Brewing is an art, and what better way to express that than filling the artfully crafted beer into an artfully designed bottle?
The brewers at Maisel & Friends are not only friends of the art of brewing, they also have a soft spot for street art. In their Artbeer series, they combine these two passions into a project that inspires on both a visual and a culinary basis.
The series is now in its 4th edition: Maisel & Friends Artbeer #4 is called ELLE and was designed with the artist of the same name from Brooklyn. Before ELLE attracted the attention of the international art scene, she decorated the walls of her city with impressive paintings in illegal night and fog actions. Her work is a colorful mix of Surrealism and Cubist collages, the beer behind the art is a Juicy IPA. Five different hop varieties are responsible for the juicy notes of orange, mango, peach, lychee, citrus fruit and apricot.
