The dark from the house of Fürst Carl is a golden boy, even if the color of the beer doesn’t really reflect this trait. The mahogany-colored beer, after completely delighting countless fans and friends of the brewery, also enchanted the jurors of a renowned international competition in 2014. The dark beauty won the gold medal of the European Beer Star Awards with color, character and heavenly taste and made a name for herself all over Europe.
Fürst Carls Dunkel is brewed according to a traditional recipe and presents the diversity of malt in all its facets. It is a composition of fine grain notes, gently melting caramel tones, hints of coffee and a good portion of strong roasted aromas.
In the glass, the Ellinger Dunkel appears in a deep, clear mahogany tone with a ruby red sheen. A hazelnut-brown crown of fine-pored foam sits enthroned on the beer and exudes an irresistible scent of roasted malt, spicy blossom honey and creamy caramel. The initial taste reveals a powerful body with a full 5.2% alcohol content, gentle carbonic acid and a cornucopia of different malt notes. Soft and aromatic, taste nuances of freshly baked bread, creamy caramel, roasted nuts, cereals and chocolate caress the palate. A roasted bitterness joins the finish and rounds off the play of aromas.
