The cellar beer is one of the Franconian classics in the Fürst Carl range. In Franconia, the cellar beer is traditionally drunk in the beer cellar, along with a hearty snack with crispy stone-baked bread, spicy cheese, butter and, ideally, a pickle and some chives. But the uncomplicated, tasty cellar beer also tastes excellent in any other situation. For brewers, the cellar beer is a daily bread: the basis of the cellar beer is the so-called Zwickl, the sample that brewers draw from the Zwickl tap. The Zwicklbier is used to determine whether the beer is ready to be bottled or whether it still needs a while.
Fürst Carls Kellerbier is unfiltered and is in the good average with 5.1% alcohol content. Due to the natural residues of the raw materials, the beer has a grippy texture and a full-bodied, strong character. In addition to a large amount of fine malt, hops from Ellingen are used in the production. The regional specialty gives the beer an irresistible smell of fragrant linden blossoms, spicy cardamom and light-footed fruits. In the glass, the cellar beer is presented in a cloudy amber gold. The taste test reveals a powerful body with soft notes of caramel, aromatic hay, sun-dried straw and freshly mown grass.
The cellar beer from the princely castle brewery Ellingen is a Franconian delicacy that scores with down-to-earth, strong taste and drinkability. We carry the beer in 0.33 liters and 0.5 liters.
