Ruination was one of the first IPAs created by the hop-mad brewers at Stone Brewing. Americans are notoriously over-the-top when it comes to the amount of hops in their succulent India Pale Ales, and Ruination was the start of a hopped success story that continues to this day. The beer was the ultimate homage to green gold and pretty much the maximum amount of hops that could be brewed at the time. Since then, the brewers have surpassed themselves again and again and processed unimagined quantities of the aromatic cones.
To celebrate Ruination’s tenth anniversary, the brewers wanted to brew something big. Every single employee at Stone remembers the first legendary IPAs and associates grandiose moments with this step towards craft beer Olympus. From that position came RuinTen — an ebullient, hoppy, loud, and absolutely brilliant birthday surprise for all fans of heavy IPAs. In order to marry past and present, the team chose the Citra and Centennial hop varieties. This explosive combination brings an intense hop aroma to the beer that tastes of freshly squeezed fruit juice, golden lemon oil, ripe nectarines and pineapple. Delicate hints of mint and spices complete the potpourri. And of course the fabulous 10.8% alcohol content and a bitterness that should not be underestimated.
