The pint is a unit of measure that was used to measure liquids and solids. While a pint glass in the UK is just over half a liter, in the United States it's slightly smaller at 0.47 litres. Today the term is used less for measuring than in the context of beer: in England, after work (or sometimes, if the morning was particularly hard and unbearable, even at midday) you meet with colleagues and friends for a pint in the pub.
