A beer couldn't be drier.
Dry Humor from Yankee&Kraut is a very special beer specialty that is still quite rare to find on the German beer market. It is a so-called Brut IPA. This type of beer is brewed with an enzyme that takes care of certain, complex sugars that yeast cannot process. This process has previously been used primarily in powerful, sweet beers such as stouts to keep the sweetness in check. Using the enzyme to produce less sweet beer styles results in an incomparably dry end result. In fact, the beers are so dry that they are called champagne beers, or brut beers. Resourceful brewers on the American West Coast came up with the idea of Brut IPAs.
Dry Humor presents itself in a cloudy gold tone in the glass and forms a beige head of foam. A complex scent of strong yeast and various hop notes rises to the nose when pouring: freshly cut herbs combine with juicy citrus fruit and tart grapefruit. A hint of malt and the sparkling freshness of a good white wine are added. When drunk, the beer style shows its most impressive side: Dry Humor is, as expected, dry. A soft malt base gives the beer a caramel undertone, the hops are citrusy and floral. The finish is crisp and wonderfully dry.
