The Nuremberg Orca Braus is named after these majestic animals that are mainly found in the colder waters of the north. The sea giants reach a length of up to 10 meters and basically everything that fits in their mouth or can be broken up with their sharp teeth is on their menu. The killer whales are absolutely not choosy and due to their massive size they have no natural predators. However, humans are already a problem: trapping, pollution, overfishing and the consequences of the climate crisis have had a drastic impact on the whale population and have led to the orcas already becoming extinct in some parts of the world. In order to keep drawing attention to the marine mammals and to make a contribution to their protection, the Nuremberg brewery supports various projects .
The team also currently has a beer that has the orca on the label. Blackfly is a powerful Imperial Stout with a whale jumping out of the water in the design. Behind the black giant is a brewing piece that can also be described as a giant: The beer was brewed with an incredible ten different types of malt and refined with the Columbus hop variety. With a whopping 10.5%, it is the richest brew from Orca Brau. Its bouquet is made up of roasted aromas, delicately melting chocolate, coffee and full-bodied cereals.
