Fluffy is an adjective that is associated with different things. For example, we immediately think of fluffy, light sponge cake, thick pancakes, cozy wool sweaters, fluffy cats, airy mousse, perfectly baked cinnamon rolls, yolk-yellow scrambled eggs, the finest Kaiserschmarren, soft sofa cushions and small white clouds drifting across the bright blue sky.
The Orca Brau from Nuremberg is now adding another, extremely fluffy product to this chain of associations: the Franconians have conjured up a beer with wonderful fluffiness using malted barley and wheat. The brew with the loose, flaky consistency is a naturally cloudy pale ale with a gentle 4.7% alcohol content. To give the silky smooth drink an extra kick of flavor, it was cold hopped. The varieties Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado and Cashmere bring a tropical fruitiness to the beer and give it a strong spice.
Fluffy comes with a lavender blue sky and small clouds on the label and is presented in a heavily clouded grain gold in the glass. A small cap of white foam crowns the beer and smells of sun-ripened citrus fruit. The initial taste is so creamy and fluffy, like a milkshake and just as full-bodied. A dance of golden pineapple, passion fruit, peach and other tropical fruits ensnares the palate with juicy sweetness and summery freshness. The hops and malt skilfully intertwine and create a harmonious whole.
