So good that you would even risk insomnia for it!
The young creative brewery Black Rose has released a number of exceptional beers since its launch. Insomnia is the third in the group and is a cold brew coffee stout. The dark beer is brewed in cooperation with the Müller coffee roasting company. The roastery supplies the brewery with fairly traded, organic coffee beans, which are used to make a cold brew. Cold brew is a technique in which coffee is made with cold water and, thanks to its gentle nature, brings out the full aroma of the coffee bean. The finished coffee then ends up in the kettle and ferments together with hops, malt, oat flakes and yeast. The result is a beer that not only has the color of coffee, but also smells and tastes wonderful.
Insomnia flows into the glass in a deep black coffee tone and forms a small, milk foam-like crown. A seductive scent rises from the slightly tinted foam: freshly brewed coffee mixes in the nose with roasted nuts, delicately melting chocolate and dark berries. The initial taste reveals a beer with dark roasted aromas and a velvety mouthfeel. An intense coffee note appears pleasantly dry on the tongue, soft caramel, dark chocolate and chocolate roses complete the aromatic play. The finish is soft and stays long on the palate.
Insomnia is a round, complex beer that delights us with its delicious coffee note and velvety mouthfeel.
We would prefer this beer to any coffee, no matter how good it was!
