A lot of thought preceded the development of the Überquell Brewery's original. Instead of creating a complicated beer with myriad different, interwoven flavor levels, they wanted to make a beer that was tasty and simple for a change. Straight forward, so to speak.
The guys from ÜberQuell love beer, you can see and taste it. Their hoppy creations are created in the bosom of a true beer paradise: brewery, tap room, beer garden and beer experience center in a hop-magical place. So there is no doubt that the brewers behind ÜberQuell could easily pull off the craziest beer of all time. But they didn't want to. At least not in the original. The light beer should be a beer that goes well with pizza from your favorite Italian restaurant and can sweeten even the worst football game of all time. Easy going, not too cerebral and still really tasty.
The result is something to behold - and tasted! The ÜberQuell Original flows into the glass in a delicate yellow gold tone and forms a fluffy, white head of foam. A fine scent of sun-ripened grain, spicy yeast and slightly grassy, green hops rises from the creamy foam. When drunk, the original is decidedly hoppy. On a soft, slightly spicy base of malt and yeast, the hops reveal themselves in all their facets. A subtle, fruity bitterness from the white part of tangy lemon peel joins the aroma of freshly mown grass on the tongue, a touch of sweetness from lemon candy underlines the hoppy aromas.
What should we say? The original from ÜberQuell is exactly what it wants to be: tasty, calm and to the point.
