Belgian beers are really popular right now and we can absolutely understand the hype: the beers from our neighbors are characterized by their strong body, intense flavor and subtly balanced sweetness. There are classic Belgian beer styles like the Dubbel or the Blond that have been interpreted by craft brewers from all over the world for some time now. Today, however, we want to introduce you to a real original. The Brugse Zot Blond comes from the De Halve Maan brewery and is a real trophy hunter: It has already won a gold medal at the World Beer Awards several times and inspires experts and casual drinkers alike.
The Belgian specialty presents itself in a copper shimmering deep gold in the glass and is crowned with an ivory-colored crown of creamy, dense-pored foam. A composition of heavy fruit aromas and strong spice rises in the nose and almost seduces to the first sip. The initial taste reveals a powerful body that caresses the palate with surprisingly fresh citrus and a crisp bitterness. The complex play of aromas is made up of ripe fruit, hints of yeast braid, warm spices and an abundance of intense malt notes.
