Perry is a variation on the classic cider and is made with pears instead of apples. Fermentation turns the freshly harvested fruit into a wonderful drink that wonderfully captures the golden autumn and its treasures. The pear cider originally came from Great Britain, but has spread via the colonies to faraway New Zealand and is now drunk all over the world. In the past, wild pears were used to produce it, but today the nobler cultivars from the sunny gardens of England are used.
The British brewery Samuel Smith’s obtains the pears for their very own version of Perry from farmers who cultivate their fruit according to the strict guidelines of controlled organic farming. The same applies to the cane sugar used. The final product is naturally gluten-free and can also be enjoyed by vegetarians and vegans.
Samuel Smith’s Organic Perry flows into the glass in a clear sunshine gold and feeds a small, white veil of foam with tirelessly rising carbonic acid pearls. Scent and taste take you straight to a pear grove: the soft sweetness of juicy, ripe pears fills the air and ensnares the palate together with a tangy sweetness of fruit. The cider is crisp, refreshing, full-bodied and wonderfully tasty.
Anyone who likes pears will love Perry!
