To celebrate their long-standing friendship, the two breweries Freigeist Bierkultur and Stillwater Artisanal started brewing beer together at some point. The series bears the French term for “friends” and is now in its fifth round.
Amis Volume 5 is a Gose that comes in chic champagne bottles. The old German beer style was catapulted into the present with a whole range of extraordinary ingredients and refined with a two-year aging in oak barrels. The beer brewed in collaboration contains, in addition to the usual raw materials, grape juice, rosemary, ginger and orange peel. This aromatic mixture gives the sour beer a complex, exciting aroma, while the barrel aging provides soft oak notes and a subtle depth.
The exquisite Gose flows into the glass in shimmering copper amber gold. A crown of creamy, white foam sits enthroned on the clouded body, which is fed by a lively carbonic acid and smells seductively of sour grapes, green apples and wine barrels. The initial taste reveals a delicately composed beer, which brings the spicy herbal note of rosemary in harmony with the fruity acidity of white wine and the tangy spiciness of ginger. The aging in oak barrels enriches the mixture with dry wood notes and a hint of vanilla.
Amis Volume 5 is a symphony of sour, fruity-sweet, spicy and herbaceous notes with a silky mouthfeel and a refreshing character.
