The Kundmüller brewery is a traditional Franconian brewery that masters the balancing act between tradition and innovation with flying colors. In addition to classics of the Franconian art of brewing, there is a whole range of subtly composed craft beers in the range. Only recently, these beers earned the brewery the title of “German Craft Brewery of the Year 2020”.
It is beers like the Weiherer Summer Ale that completely thrilled the jurors. The light, flaky ale is a beer specialty that was brewed with a fabulous six types of hops. The highly aromatic variants Savinjski Golding, Celeia, Select, Polaris and Huell Melon give the beer its fresh hop character and the delicate bitterness that elegantly complements the aromas.
The Summer Ale presents itself in an orange-red gold tone in the glass. A small crown of snow-white, airy foam sits enthroned on the amber-colored beer and exudes a tempting scent of spicy pine resin, creamy caramel and fruity-fresh hops. The initial taste reveals a finely balanced pale ale that is equally sweet, hoppy, tart, dry and bitter. A soft malt sweetness caresses the palate with aromas of oven-fresh biscuits, melt-in-the-mouth caramel and roasted grain. The hops use fruit to counteract this: tangy citrus fruit, juicy pineapple and ripe mango combine with spicy resin and a bitter hop bitterness to create an elegant play of aromas. The finish is hoppy and tastes like freshly cut grass and tropical fruits.
A winning beer!
