The Freiburg brewing collective has made a lot of friends with its fine beer creations. The iconic Irish pub Oscar Wilde’s also belongs to the illustrious circle of admirers and acquaintances of the brewery: The stylish café honors the Irish poet with a classic British ambience, the finest whiskeys and handpicked beers.
A real specialty in the pub’s range is Jamie’s Irish Red Ale, which the Freiburg brewing collective created especially for Oscar Wilde’s. The beer is a genuine Irish Red Ale with a malty character and a hoppy twist. Jamison O’Kelly, man’s best friend and favorite dog of the brewers, acted as namesake.
Jamie’s presents itself in a warm copper tone in the glass. A fine veil of slightly tinted foam sits enthroned on the red-brown body, which smells tempting of caramelized malt, freshly harvested forest berries and fruity hops. A touch of pine resin rounds off the olfactory first impression and makes you excited about the first sip. This reveals a balanced body that caresses the palate with a harmony of gently melting caramel, gently roasted malt and red berries. The hops complement the malty base with resinous herbal notes and a hint of freshly mown grass. The bitter is perfectly matched and sounds beautifully mild right through to the finish.
