In the Southern California city of Coronado, there is a brewery named after her hometown. Coronado Brewing Company is located on Orange Avenue, a street formerly lined with orange trees. When the citrus plants were still growing there, they filled the air with their sweet scent in spring and gave local residents their juicy fruits between November and March. Apart from the street name, nothing is left of the fruit happiness of days long past.
The Coronado brewers didn’t want to accept this state of affairs, so they created a delicious monument to the oranges: Your Orange Ave. Not only does Wit bear the name of the street, it also tells of its botanical past. The Belgian Wit is the perfect beer style for that matter: it traditionally features orange zest paired with coriander and salt for an exotic blend. Made with the freshly grated zest of Southern California oranges, coriander and rich orange blossom honey, Coronado’s interpretation beautifully captures the charm of Orange Avenue.
The Americanized Wit presents itself in a luminous gold tone with an orange tinge and is crowned with a delicate veil of foam. The dominant note in fragrance and taste is honey, which is obtained from the nectar of countless orange blossoms. Herbal notes, orange aroma and a mild acidity complete the play of aromas.
