Almut Zinn, head, heart and woman behind the label Emma - beers without a beard, is known for her delicately composed creations. The passionate brewer is a true hop magician and makes beers that have character and a whole lot of taste.
A prime example of their brewing art is Sudstern: The light dark ale inspires with dark roasted aromas. At the same time, the fine dark presents us with a fresh fruit note, which wonderfully balances the roasted aromas. A symphony that comes about through two very special techniques. On the one hand, the beer is cold-hopped, and Almut also uses what is known as late hopping in order to extract its full strength from the hops.
Sudstern flows into the glass in the color of chestnuts and shimmers ruby red when exposed to light. The clear beer is adorned with a crown of slightly tinted, creamy foam. A seductive scent of fresh hops and strong roasted malt rises from the thick splendor. The initial taste reveals a powerful body with full-bodied aromas. The taste of roasted malt meets subtle coffee notes, herbaceous hops and a fine fruit note. Sweet and bitterness combine to create a surprising composition, the hops give the dark ale an additional kick.
Almut has put her very own stamp on the dark ale and has given us a real beer specialty.
