For us, the perfect winter day includes bright sunshine. For a few precious hours, the sun shines from the cloudless, blue sky and makes the snow glitter like freshly cut diamonds. The air is ice cold and clear, it crunches under our feet with every step and our breath rises in white clouds. Wrapped up, we stroll through the winter wonderland, toboggan down gentle hills and perhaps engage in a snowball fight with the neighbors. When it gets uncomfortable and dark outside at five, we make ourselves comfortable on the sofa with a hot water bottle and a cozy blanket. As the crowning glory, we treat ourselves to a fine winter beer, which chases away the residual cold from our bones and puts us in the anticipation of Christmas.
Many breweries have such a beer in their range, but one of our favorites is Wintergold from Günther.
The seasonal beer specialty comes with a tasty 5.8% alcohol content and scores with a wintry flavor combination. The first thing that catches the eye when drinking is the full malt: Soft notes of gently roasted grain, oven-fresh biscuit base and caramelized nuts deliver a nice sweetness. The hops harmoniously contribute hints of apples and green umbels and a wonderful spiciness. Wintergold is our pick for a cozy afternoon in front of the fireplace!
