The popular stout from the Estonian brewery Lehe has been taken to a new level: Ravnodenstvie is now also available in the barrel-aged edition!
The small Lehe brewery from Estonia is known for its fancy beer creations and barrel-aged specialties. For Ravnodenstvie Islay, the brewers used all their skills and filled the good Ravnodenstvie Stout into whiskey barrels after the brewing process had been completed. Islay Whiskey is a Scottish spirit that has a very special character. This was transferred into the beer through maturation. In addition, the beer has gained in alcohol content and flavor intensity through the time in the barrels. We thought the Stout Ravnodenstvie was already perfect, but now it's a work of art of a stout!
Ravnodenstvie Islay BA flows into the glass in a deep black mahogany tone and forms a stable, medium-sized head of foam. Promising scents of ripe bananas, whiskey-infused oak, vanilla, smoky peat and dark chocolate rise from the hazelnut-brown foam. In contrast to stout, barrel-aged beer smells even more of heavy, ripe fruit. The taste follows the olfactory impression straight away: a complex flavor body caresses the palate with powerful notes of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and a spicy peat note. The dark sweetness of fully ripe plums and the unmistakable character of oak barrels with whiskey round off the aromatics. The finish presents a fleeting, subtle bitter note, the full-bodied taste remains on the tongue for a long time.
This beer is definitely a step up from the already delicious Ravnodenstvie Stout. Wow!
